Using CBD to Quit Smoking

Smoking cigarettes is a notoriously difficult habit to quit. According to the American Heart Association, the reason cigarettes are so hard to give up is because they contain a drug called nicotine. Studies have shown that nicotine is just as addictive as other drugs, including cocaine and heroin. There is evidence, though, that CBD can be a useful tool for those trying to kick the habit.

Let’s discuss how smokers can use CBD to break their nicotine addictions.

Negative Effects of Cigarettes

Many people begin smoking as a way to help them relax, cope with stress, or simply because they enjoy it. They may not consider the long-term health effects that cigarettes can cause.

According to the CDC, smoking tobacco is known to lead to diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and COPD. Smoking causes damage to the lungs and the heart. It lowers your good cholesterol, damages the lining of blood vessels, and can cause plaque buildup in the arteries.

Secondhand smoke from cigarettes is particularly harmful because it is not filtered and can cause damage to the heart and lungs of those who breathe it over long periods.

Many people who want to quit for health reasons struggle, however, because of the addictive nature of nicotine. Withdrawal symptoms can include cravings, irritability, headaches, anxiety, depression, and trouble concentrating.

How CBD Can Help You Quit Smoking

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound in the hemp and cannabis plant that can help reduce stress and anxiety. Unlike THC, it does not give you a “head high,” and it typically has very few side effects.

A recent study has shown that taking CBD while quitting cigarettes can help reduce the intensity and frequency of cravings during withdrawal periods. This isn’t just for nicotine though. CBD is being considered as a treatment for a variety of addictions. Another study showed that using CBD while smoking helped reduce the number of cigarettes used by 40%.

CBD is also known for effectively reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety, which can be withdrawal symptoms when quitting smoking.

CBD as an Alternative to Nicotine

Many people who smoke do it to relieve anxiety and stress. But if anxiety relief is what you are looking for CBD is a much healthier option than cigarettes.

CBD is often sold as a ground flower and can be smoked or vaped, or it can be sold as oils, tinctures, gummies, or other edibles. With so many options it is easy to find a way to consume CBD that is beneficial for you.

If you want to try CBD flower but are worried about the effects of smoking it, you can try a dry herb vaporizer, which just heats the pure flower so it can be inhaled with water vapor.

A great method for someone who wants to avoid smoking altogether would be an oil or tincture, which can be dropped under the tongue. CBD can also be sold in pre-rolled cigarette form.

These may be a good alternative for someone who is having difficulty completely giving up or reducing tobacco cigarettes because they contain no addictive nicotine.

What is CBD Isolate?

What is CBD Isolate? | Cali-Born Dreams

You are finally ready to try a CBD product to help with what ails you. It seems like every other person you know has tried it and is using it with great success, but where do you start? For those interested in the medicinal value of cannabis, CBD Isolate is an extremely appealing form of the product. CBD does not need THC to be effective, which is why pharmaceutical companies are isolating it. If you are looking for a product rich in CBD with no THC, then CBD Isolate is a great way to go. CBD has been used to help with anxiety, pain, inflammation and epilepsy.

CBD Isolate is a crystalline solid or powder comprising pure CBD. Unlike the CBD Isolate, Full Spectrum CBD products may legally contain up to 0.3% THC. It is possible for this trace amount to still show up on a drug test, but it will not cause any “high” related to THC. CBD Isolate is not a synthetic or lab-made cannabinoid, but a refined product extracted from the Hemp plant after all the plant’s material, waxes, chlorophyll and other compounds are removed.

CBD Isolate is extracted from cannabis plants, with no additional compounds included, while CBD Full Spectrum bundles together multiple chemical compounds to form what CBD manufacturers call the “Entourage Effect”.

To start the CBD isolate process, you extract the compounds and other substances from the cannabis plant, including THC. This process leaves behind pure CBD in crystal form, which has no distinctive smell or taste. The crystals will then be ground into a powder for various forms of usage.

How CBD Isolate Effects the Body:

Receptors in the human body, called endocannibinoids, produce their own cannabinoids which affect our appetite, mood, memory, inflammation levels and pain perception. Researchers believe that CBD does not attach directly to these receptors, but rather influences them in some way.

Research has shown that CBD can also influence non-cannabinoid receptors, such as the 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) serotonin receptor. Serotonin is a chemical that affects levels of anxiety, sleeplessness and depression. This could also explain why CBD seems to readily ease anxiety and pain.

Growing amount of scientific evidence shows CBD Isolate is also effective in assisting in the treatment of diabetes, chemotherapy side effects for cancer, Autism and ADHD. It can even aid in quitting smoking.

For Anxiety:

In a 2019 study, in a psychiatric clinic, researchers studied the charts of 72 adults who had sleeping problems and/or anxiety. After treatment with CBD, 67% saw improved sleep scores and 79% reported decreased anxiety. The research concluded that CBD appears to benefit people with anxiety disorders and is easily tolerated.

For Pain & inflammation Relief:

CBD Isolate may help inflammatory conditions such as fibromyalgia, cancer pain, neuropathy, arthritis pain and chronic back pain. When it comes to extreme pain, research indicates that a full spectrum CBD product may be more effective in dealing with extreme pain. This is because the THC acts collaboratively with cannabinoids to boost the analgesic effects.

For Epilepsy:

CBD Isolate has shown to significantly help anti-seizure effects in epileptic patients. A 2017 study is offering hope to those with the condition. It cites strong evidence that CBD can improve seizure control with specific epilepsy syndromes. The American Epilepsy Society says CBD studies offer hope with the condition. Research is still underway and those with epilepsy should always consult with their health care provider about treatment options.

It is possible for CBD to interact with some prescription or over-the-counter medications. There can be some contraindication with cholesterol drugs such as Lipitor and anti-depressants, such as Prozac. So, always consult with your health care provider before using CBD or other cannabis products.

Off to a Good Start!

CBD Isolate is a great way to explore if CBD is the right treatment for you. It has demonstrated a variety of benefits including anxiety, pain and inflammation relief. If there is any residual concern over trace amounts of THC, then CBD Isolate may be the wiser choice.

Is It Possible To Vape THC or CBD Products Safely?

News about vaping illnesses has spread like wildfire. Many of us are left wondering how safe, if at all, is vaping? Are you vaping THC or CBD products safely? Those e-liquid flavor seem innocent, but may be filled with highly toxic chemicals. Lab tests should be third party tested. We at Cali-Born Dreams are as concerned as you are with the disturbing news involving the CBD and cannabis industry. Even though we do not offer vaping products, we would like to offer some tips on how to stay safe when deciding what to buy.

Purchase from Trusted Brands:

CBD Products, THC Products, E-liquid flavoring, Lab Testing

We urge you to purchase only well-known brands from established vendors. Keep in mind, the Black Market has been very crafty in putting their bogus distillates into fake packaging that look exactly like popular brands. Which is why it is critical to buy from vendors you trust. Never hesitate to ask questions — especially when it comes to your health and your life!

Vape Products Containing Pure Distillate:

In many of these unscrupulous cartridges on the market, we are finding Vitamin E Oil/Acetate, Propylene Glycol and other dangerous fillers, used as a diluent to “thicken” the CBD or THC distillate. These oils, when inhaled, disrupt the function of the fluid lining in the lungs. Over time, the lungs begin to fill with fatty deposits, and ultimately make it difficult to simply breathe. You should only vape products that contain pure distillate and organic terpenes.

Avoid Added Flavors:

A national survey found 80% of youngsters enjoyed vaping because it came in flavors they liked. Vaping products have long been marketed to cut down or completely stop smoking. With the addition of kid friendly flavors such as, “cherry, grape, apple, peach, and berry”, E-liquid sales have increased as well as “reversing decades of progress on youth smoking”.

The FDA also found some of these flavors to be “poisonous in high doses”.  Cinnamon flavored e-liquids contained cinnamaldehyde, a chemical that experts at the FDA called “highly toxic to human cells.” Some cotton candy and bubble gum flavors contained aldehydes, a class of chemicals that can cause airway constriction.

Therefore, it is incredibly important to be your own vigilante when it comes to your health and cannabis needs. Consider purchasing CBD and cannabis products from reputable companies.

Lab Testing Results:

Lab results done via third-party testing and NOT done in-house, usually aren’t affiliated with the brand or manufacturer. Third-party lab testing private institutions, not affiliated with the brand or manufacturer. They test for the percentage of CBD, as well as pesticides, heavy metal and other impurities. Look for lab results, sometimes listed on the company’s website. In the case that it’s not, ask for the lab testing results. Be sure to confirm the results match the label on the product.

Talk to Your Doctor:

If you are taking prescription drugs, we urge you to talk with your doctor. While vaping pure distillate without any added flavor may seem harmless, we still recommend talking to your doctor to be certain it is not interfering with the effectiveness of any medication or causing any internal damage from ingredients not listed on the packaging. Also, if you are taking anti-depressants, please consult with your doctor first before starting a CBD regimen, as they may be contra-indicated.
